Captain Tom 100

A campaign in memory of Captain Tom

Client: Captain Tom Foundation

Services: Brand application, Campaign asset creation.

The Captain Tom Foundation came to Studio Republic to design a campaign in honour of Sir Captain Tom Moore on what would have been his 101st birthday. The foundation had it’s own brand but required a new identity for this special campaign that would engage a wide audience accessible for all participants both young and old to take part in a challenge centred around the number 100 to raise money for charity in honour of Sir Captain Tom. It was a huge privilege to be a part of this project – working alongside one other designer at Studio Republic, I was involved in the brand ideation and the creation of the large amount of assets for the event.

The outcome

The visual language for the Captain Tom 100 campaign is vibrant and playful with the main mark inspired by the iconic medals which Sir Captain Tom wore during his walk to raise money during the pandemic. We created an extensive marketing toolkit for charities, businesses, organisations and schools around the country to get involved and promote the event.  It contained over 100 marketing assets, including social media profile and header images, social tiles and stickers, t-shirts, email marketing assets, posters, flyers, digital ad banners, presentation templates and more.

Over £1 million raised!

The event was a huge success with 1,233 charities supported through people taking part in a wide variety of ‘100 inspired’ challenges. From a 100km cycle like I did with my Dad (see picture above)! To 100 lengths of a swimming pool or 100 cakes baked. It was amazing to see the creativity of people’s challenges in memory of Captain Tom. The event raised £1.2 million for UK charities which will have such a positive impact on so many people’s lives.
